Government Tax + Service Charge
15–21% added on top of every quoted line item. A “$10,000 venue fee” becomes $11,500–$12,100 after tax.
Banjar Fee ($200–$500)
A mandatory community contribution to the local village council for private villa events. Non-negotiable and deeply rooted in Balinese culture.
Function Fee
Typically equivalent to one extra night’s villa rate, charged for the event itself.
Generator Hire (IDR 800K–1.5M)
Required for clifftop and garden venues without mains power backup. Essential for lighting and sound.
Corkage Fee (~IDR 150K/person)
Charged if you supply your own alcohol instead of using the venue’s bar.
Outside Vendor Entrance Fee

How to Choose — The Right Bali Wedding Venue.
Step 1
Start with Your Guest Count
This eliminates more venues instantly than any other factor. Under 30 guests? You need an intimate villa or elopement location. Over 200? You need a full-service resort with ballroom infrastructure. The venues that can genuinely handle 300+ guests in Bali are limited to AYANA, The Mulia, Apurva Kempinski, Ritz-Carlton, Grand Hyatt, Sofitel, and InterContinental.
Step 2
Choose Your Landscape
Cliff, beach, jungle, rice terrace, volcano, or waterfall? This is an emotional decision, not a logistical one. Think about the photos you want to look at for the next fifty years. What’s behind you? What’s the light doing? What does the air feel like? Choose the landscape that matches the feeling of your relationship.
Step 3
Confirm Your Budget — Including Hidden Costs
Take the venue’s quoted price, add 15–21% tax and service, add the Banjar fee, add the function fee if applicable, add generator hire if outdoor, and add any vendor entrance fees. That’s your real number.

Visit (or Video-Call) During Your Ceremony Time
A venue at 10 AM looks nothing like the same venue at 5 PM. Light direction, crowd density, ambient noise, and atmospheric mood all change dramatically throughout the day. If you can’t visit in person, ask for a 360-degree video recorded at your proposed ceremony time.

These are the two logistics issues that derail more Bali weddings than any other. Most venues enforce a 10–11 PM music cutoff. And most outdoor venues have limited rain contingency.
